Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can relaunch on Product Hunt with the same product as long as:

 

-You you developed a new feature update or releases a new version of the product

 

-OR at least 6 months have passed since your most recent launch.

 

Companies like Stripe or Shopify often launch a new feature update ever quarter to gain additional exposure.

 

While the prep time for a launch often takes multiple weeks, the launch day itsself only last 24 hours.

 

It starts at 12:00am PST and ends at 11:59PM PST.

 

If you have ever googled “What is the best day of the week to launch on Product Hunt?”, you will have seen dozens of articles that suggest to launch on a Tuesday or Wednesday. While, yes, those are the days where you will see the highest engagement and traffic metrics, these will also be the most competitive days on Product Hunt. Your product will be competing along products like Stripe, Slack and Asana. 

It depends on what your KPI’s and objectives for the launch are.

fIf you are looking to drive the highest amount of traffic and are ok to rank in the 3rd spot, then launching on a Tuesday and Wednesday would be good days.

If you are looking for brand awareness, social proof and additional exposure, then Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays are great launch days. On these days you will still see great traffic numbers but you won’t be facing as much competition end will have better chances to rank in the top spots.

 

Every day hundreds of Startups launch on Product Hunt with the aspirations to make in into the top spots. However, only a few dozen of them ever make it onto the featured page and only a small fraction make it into the top spots.

Your chances to make it into the top spots will depend on a variety of factors such as:

 

1. The day of the week you launch

2. The subcategory you are launching in

3. Your product itself 

While we take care of the majority of the launch preparations, we do ask that you submit the marketing materials from your end. Typically these consist of a few gallery images that showcase how your product works, a product video (if you have one) and a short ad copy that outlines why you build the product, what problem it solves and how it works.

 

We find that only the maker team itself knows how to best describe why they are working on a product and what problems it is supposed to solve for the market. However, we do provide best practices on how to format these assets and will also review them once you have submitted them to us.

 

Once everything looks good, we’ll build out your launch page and take care of all of the promotions on your launch day.
